BC Vaccine Card Policy

By order of the Provincial Health Officer, proof of vaccination will be required to access some events, services and businesses. Starting September 13, you must have at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. By October 24, you must be fully vaccinated. The requirement applies to all people born in 2009 or earlier (12+).

Starting September 13, 2021, Okanagan coLab will be requiring proof of one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and proof of 2 doses starting October 24, 2021 for the following activities, events, and usage of Okanagan coLab:

  • All members who participate in any event at Okanagan coLab, with over 50 attendees, ticketed or free, outside of their normal use of the Okanagan coLab as a workspace for themselves and their coLab-membered team.
  • All non-members who participate in any event at the Okanagan coLab, with over 50 attendees, ticketed or free, whether organized by the coLab, a coLab member, or a non-member.

Please note: Vaccine Cards will not be mandatory to use Okanagan coLab as an office space.

Important Things to Note:

  • It is the responsibility of rental groups, as outlined above, to ensure that everyone attending their meeting or event is able to provide proof of vaccination. Okanagan coLab staff will ask to see your proof of vaccination and valid government ID upon entry, and entry will be denied without proper documentation.
  • The Okanagan coLab will not provide refunds to groups who do not provide proper documentation.
  • The requirement is in place until January 31, 2022, subject to extension and the Okanagan coLab’s Vaccine Card Policy is subject to change without prior notice.

What we ask our members to do.

We invite you to ~ Care for yourself – Care for each other – Care for this place.

Communicate with each other about mask preferences. If you are joining a table, or a meeting, ask if someone prefers masks, or if is ok to sit together without one.

Do not, under any circumstances, come to coLab if you aren’t feeling well. Runny nose, chills, sore throat, fever, cough, you name it – stay at home for everyone’s sake or you will be asked to leave immediately.

When you first arrive at reception, sterilize your hands and then take your forehead temperature with the infrared thermometer provided. If your temperature is above 37.5 degrees Celsius, please go home immediately.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds when you arrive at coLab, after using the washroom, blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing, before preparing food, and after you’ve been in a public place.

Alternatively, you can use the alcohol-based hand sanitizer available in the wall-mounted dispensers around the coLab.

What coLab does

Cleaning Intensification

coLab has a set of cleaning procedures that our employees and members follow.

We maintain a checklist of common areas, containing high-touch surfaces that will be cleaned and disinfected on a frequent schedule and after each use.

We use health authority-recommended products that both clean and disinfect. Products are placed in easily accessible areas and are be available for use by all members.

Signage

Informational posters are mounted around the space containing information about cleaning procedures and instructions for employees and members.

Air Regeneration

coLab has implemented several measures to increase the rate at which the indoor air is purified of contaminants, including increased airflow and HEPA Air Purifiers.

We have a collection of plants throughout coLab. Plants are capable of absorbing several noxious compounds, including benzene and formaldehyde.

What Hasn’t Changed: Our Sense of Community

This is a challenging time for all of us. We recognize that these new measures may be an inconvenience and that some members may find the physical office space less useful or less efficient to navigate as a result.

But we’re doing these things for a very important reason: We care about our community.

As we move forward into our new normal, we must remember to prioritize the well-being of the people around us. We must rely on each other to make the right choices, and we must each make the right choices for those who rely on us.

What Comes Next

We are committed to follow recommendations of our Public Health Officer, and we will continually monitor and reassess the situation as things change. We will make adjustments to health and safety measures as needed.

And finally, this should go without saying, but:

  • If you’re sick – even with only mild symptoms — stay home.
  • If a member of your household is sick, stay home.
  • If you are immunocompromised or part of a high-risk group, stay home.

If you don’t think you can follow the guidelines, stay home
