Oh, hi there!

“Besides watching the NHL playoffs as a second career (#gohabsgo), I’m scheduled to teach Google AdWords & Analytics training sessions a couple of times in California over the next few months. In addition to my regular consulting with e-commerce clients, I’m also actively looking to participate in a startup e-commerce from an equity involvement standpoint. As per socializing, the upcoming foosball tourney at the co+Lab will surely be a night of tears, whether from victory or shameful defeat. I also predict that Rob will be the most popular participant name at the event…”

“As the activator at co+Lab I have been working with companies to keep startup drinks going, getting the okanagan solopreneurs meetup growing with now over 123 members and adding a new skill sharing event for co+Lab members. When I am not instigating community I am working with Mathtoons to disrupt the EdTech space through a mobile first deliberate practice platform. I am also still working with Optometrists to use their social media for their business. ”

“Fiona McGregor and I are announcing our hip, new event for the summer — called “On the Lawn.” Think bocce, meets, Okanagan sunsets, meets sippin’ a cool one with your mates, meets downtown City Park. Over 3 consecutive Thursdays starting July 30th, we’re hosting a charity lawn bowling tournament, where we’re raising funds for co+Lab member, Elevation Outdoors. We’d love to see you on the green this summer (and if you think lawn bowling is for old people, think again)!

Registration is officially open (https://onthelawn.eventbrite.ca) and all proceeds go to Elevation Outdoors. For more info, check out our site: onthelawn.ca (please be kind as we are still tinkering away).”

Sometimes in life and business a certain event, person or word sparks life in a new way. Meeting Justin, an active co+Lab member has been the spark that led to a number of events to turn my new business activities onto the road of success… or maybe it was just catching my first fish of the year at Specs Lake while enjoying the Kelowna’s back country! Secret TIP – get renewed and find a new favourite camping/fishing recreation site at http://www.TracksAndTrails.ca

Leaders2015Elevation Outdoors Awarded Honourable Mention in Volunteer BC Photo Contest

The volunteer spirit in BC continues to thrive with the announcement of the winners of the 2015 National Volunteer Week Photo Contest sponsored by Volunteer BC. In celebration of National Volunteer Week (April 12-18), Volunteer BC hosted a Photo Contest which invites volunteer and non-profit organizations in communities throughout BC to submit photos that capture the theme Volunteers Are Part of the Ripple Effect.  This year’s contest had over 190 entries that celebrated and thanked volunteers from across the province.

Elevation Outdoors was awarded Honourable Mention in the contest. The photo of our Learn to Shred volunteer team posing at Big White Ski Resort was chosen because it was one of the top photos that communicated this year’s theme. The other winners and a selection of entries from across the province can be found here.

‘We are pleased to have received such a large number of photo entries that illustrate the immense pride that British Columbians have in their communities and for their volunteers,” said Lawrie Portigal, President of Volunteer BC. “Our photo contest is a great way to celebrate volunteerism, thank and recognize volunteers and shine a spotlight on the many organizations that contribute in many different ways in the province.’
